1. We get into the habit of living before acquiring the habit of thinking. In that race which daily hastens us towards death, the body maintains its irreparable lead.

3. The evil that is in the world almost always comes of ignorance, and good intentions may do as much harm as malevolence if they lack understanding.
4. Methods of thought which claim to give the lead to our world in the name of revolution have become, in reality, ideologies of consent and not of rebellion.
5. Don't believe your friends when they ask you to be honest with them. All they really want is to be maintained in the good opinion they have of themselves.
6. A free press can, of course, be good or bad, but, most certainly without freedom, the press will never be anything but bad.
7. Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.
8. Man wants to live, but it is useless to hope that this desire will dictate all his actions.
9. Beauty is unbearable, drives us to despair, offering us for a minute the glimpse of an eternity that we should like to stretch out over the whole of time.
10. For if there is a sin against life, it consists perhaps not so much in despairing of life as in hoping for another life and in eluding the implacable grandeur of this life.

Ja leste o estrangeiro? Apesar de ele ser o pai do absurdo... achei aquilo um bocado absurdo de mais;) **
Hey!
Sim, li O Estrangeiro, A Queda (brilhante!) e estou a ler correntemente A Peste. Pois, o designado filósofo do paradoxo do absurdo (apesar de ele ter detestado essa designação). Contudo, se poderíamos considerar existir um pai desta “corrente” literária e filosófica (por vezes política) relacionada com o chavão do Existencialismo seria provavelmente Sartre ou antes mesmo com Kierkegaard. Mas depois existem muitas significativas variações entre cada um deles, como deverás saber. Penso que aparte do objectivo primordial dele de discutir alguns dos temas que rodeiam absurdo da experiência pessoal na vida- da irracionalidade da morte, da nossa incapacidade e receio de aceitar que a vida não verdadeiramente um sentido lógico e da indiferença do universo pela humanidade- era mesmo trazer essa problemática para o debate público. Acho que o conseguiu parcialmente pois sempre conseguiu um nobel uns anos mais tarde. Eu gostei mesmo muito dos 2 livros que li dele e estão ambos no meu top 10, simplesmente preciso de um espaço intervalado de tempo ( e de outros livros) entre eles para os conseguir digerir com atenção e em perspectiva. Ahhh...fica ainda tanto, tanto, tanto por dizer....talvez um dia tenha tempo e capacidade para escrever um comentário sobre A Peste no blog. Até lá, muá!!**
