Album da semana - "Loveless" by My Bloody Valentine
"If you ask any indie rock connoisseur from ages 16-30, what the top ten greatest albums of the last 20 years are, more than likely, Loveless will be near the top of that list. A near perfect album, made through the painstaking perfectionism of Kevin Sheilds and company, and the bankrupting of Alan McGee's Creation Records (from which they never recovered from until Oasis), Loveless had an entirely original, and, at the same time, amazingly simple sound which blew away anyone who ventured to listen.
The rush of sound from Sheilds mind-blowingly effect-laden guitar, and the soft cooing of Bilinda Butcher, seems to envelope one's body and carry them away on a cloud of pink haze. It begins with four seemingly benign drumbeats and suddenly, in one of the greatest moments of music history; you're drowned in a vast ocean of sound, and thus the Shoegazer sound was defined forever. As 'Only shallow' comes to a close, the music segues into another part of the continuing sound that is Loveless, with 'Loomer', which gives the feeling of flying into the sun, bathed in golden light. 'Touched', an otherworldly instrumental, writhes and undulates like a snake sliding across the desert, and sounds like signals from an alien ship. 'To Here Knows When', which first appeared on the Tremolo Ep, has Bilinda on vocals, with a quiet tambourine shaken in the background, makes way for 'When You Sleep', with its instantly memorable melody, is definitely one of the best tracks on the album (which is saying a lot, this being a perfect album). 'I Only Said' builds on the motif used in the last seconds of 'Touched', and features Kevin on vocals, which fades into the gigantic-sounding 'Come In Alone'. The next track, undoubtedly the most emotional of the album, 'Sometimes', which has made its way recently onto the Lost In Translation soundtrack, has Kevin singing tenderly of a love lost, and is one of MBV's best. 'Blown a Wish', with Shield's guitar playing the role of ambient texture and Bilinda's tracked vocals, makes one feel like they are being surrounded by a friendly mass of bees, humming quietly. 'What You Want', has a happy yet melancholy sound that evokes memories of friends and loved-ones, which ends with a minute long loop of a flute/synth. The finale of the album, 'Soon', has an acid-house dance beat, and has been praised by many as one of the greatest singles of all time, namely by Brian Eno.
So, after reading this, I hope that if you haven't heard this perfect album, you will run out of your house like a madman and BUY it, otherwise, you'd be cheating yourself out of a musical experience without equal."
