Snowden is one of the few tracks from the album Some Cities that takes a break from the city. It owes its vastness to being directly inspired by the mountain range from where it (almost) takes its name. With celestial strings, Snowden has an otherworldliness that is unique to this track.

Cinematic in atmosphere, Snowden captures Doves at a high point that once again illustrates the sheer quality of the band. The single version of Snowden is distinct from that of the album, being a new mix by Rich Costey who has previously worked with Secret Machines, 22-20s and The Mars Volta. Also appearing on the track is Guy Garvey of Elbow who sings backing vocals.

Following on from a sell-out UK tour and playing to thrilled crowds at SXSW, Doves will be playing the prestigious Coachella Festival in California before returning to the UK to play Glastonbury, the V Festival and T In The Park. They will also be seen supporting Coldplay at the Reebok Stadium in the summer.
Some Cities is an album that captures the essence of returning to your home town to find parts unrecognisable, the heartbeat led astray. A diverse album then, Some Cities deserves its plaudits and Snowden will undoubtedly introduce it to more.”
